Introduction

The tasks of Department of Streets based on the decree nr. 29/2007. (IX. 19.) of Belváros – Lipótváros Council of Budapest Capital 5th District:

1) Department of Streets performs its tasks in the public areas of the local government, in the own public areas of Inner City – Lipótváros Council and in the buildings owned and used by the local government.

2) The Department performs the tasks prescribed in the laws and other legislations, assigned to the Belváros-Lipótváros Council by The Budapest Capital Local Council:

a). to control the legitimate use of public spaces, and legitimacy of activities there, bound to permission and road operator consent;

b). Preventing, interfering, interrupting, stopping and sanctioning of any activity prohibited by the laws related to cleanliness and order of public spaces;

c) indication of the unlawful condition, initiation of a measure if the necessary procedure falls within the competence of another authority (body); (initiate the removal of unauthorized, unlawful buildings and objects in public areas);

d) contribution monitoring the implementation of the municipal decree on the cleanliness of the capital;

e) contribution to the protection of public order, and public security;

f) contribution to the protection of public space, built and natural environment;

g) controlling the drive in, and parking-drive in permissions and parking ID cards of persons with reduced mobility of the vehicles circulating and parking in protected areas as defined by the decree of Capital General Assembly, sanctioning in the case of abuse as specified in separate legislation, reporting the issuer of the permission;

h) controlling the parking permissions and parking ID cards of persons with reduced mobility of the vehicles parking in parking areas defined by the decree of Capital General Assembly, sanctioning in the case of abuse as specified in separate legislation, reporting the issuer of the permission;

i) on behalf of the road operator a measure to remove vehicles from the public areas -in cases when the road traffic regulation gives authorisation to it- with informing the police department;

j) on behalf of the road operator a measure to remove inoperative vehicles from the public areas;

k) use a wheel clamp on vehicles parking irregularly in public areas

Department of street in the course of its tasks cooperates with:

a) police department, the organisations of / bodies of Customs Police in the capital;

b) other controlling bodies especially National Tax and Customs Administration and Consumer Protection Conservancy in the capital;

c) Fire Department and Community Mechanism for Civil Protection Directorate General in the capital;

d) Civil Guard associations of V. district and in the capital;

e) Regional Mayor's Offices in the capital;

f) other bodies and non-governmental organisation providing assistance to its tasks;
